Green buildings are designed to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on human health and the natural environment by:

Buildings have an enormous impact on the environment, human health, and the economy. The successful adoption of green building strategies can maximize both the economic and environmental performance of buildings.
Our buildings have adopted some of the basic concepts of sustainability, mostly through efficient use of energy. For example, the building envelope of our newest buildings is insulated using closed-cell spray foam insulation. The advantages of closed-cell foam compared to open-cell foam include its strength, higher R-value, and its greater resistance to the leakage of air or water vapor.
In addition, we install only ENERGY STAR ® qualified windows, doors, and skylights. We only purchase windows, doors, etc, that are ENERGY STAR for at least one zone colder than where we actually live. These energy-efficient fenestration products act to reduce energy usage by 7 to 12 percent, reduce or eliminate cold drafts, collect less condensation, and reduce noise pollution from outside. It is important to note that ENERGY STAR qualified windows, doors and skylights are tested and certified by an independent, accredited agency, based on their Energy Rating.
Moreover, the buildings are heated with top of the line Buderus boilers, in conjunction with TEKMAR control systems. Tekmar provides energy saving control solutions for a wide range of hydronic (water based) systems. Comfort, efficiency & system durability are the best reasons we choose a tekmar control.
In terms of water usage and conservation, every unit is equipped with low-flush toilets, water saver shower heads, and water saver taps and sinks.
And last but not least working with the Energy Efficiency Programs of Nova Scotia, we try our best to conserve light energy, by installing only energy-efficient LED bulbs for all the building light fixtures.The use of energy is only ¼ of an ordinary incandescent bulb and do last 8-12 times longer.
